The 6th annual Basic Gardening Series will be held at the Sedgwick County Extension Education Center 4-H Hall at 21st and Ridge in Wichita on Tuesday’s, January 6 through February 17 starting at 6:30 p.m. Registration Fee is $5.00 for the entire series – due in advance of first class. Call Angie Norris at 722-7221 ext 138 to register.
The series includes educational topics for the home gardener. Class size is limited and open to all. In case of inclement weather, check KSN Channel 3, KAKE Channel 10 or KWCH Channel 12 for cancellation.

Theresa Flaigle will provide an informational presentation about Equine Assisted Services.
WHO can benefit from Equine Assisted Services
WHY will Equine Assisted Services be valuable to individual struggling with mental health and other issues.
WHAT are Equine Assisted Services
HOW Equine Assisted Services has already helped many people all over the country who struggle with a variety of issues.
Guests speakers include:
Brigitta Bogan who is the Executive Director of Flint Hills Therapeutic Riding Center (FHTRC). Brigitta has extensive experience with horses, horsemanship and therapeutic riding both nationally and internationally. She will discuss the benefits of therapeutic riding for individuals who struggle with developmental disabilities. This service is currently provided at FHTRC .She will also explain the North American Riding for the Handicap Association, Inc. (NARHA) process. Brigitta will talk about how FHTRC hopes to incorporate other services using their facility and horses in the future. FHTRC is currently participating with Breakthrough Club in a pilot project for offering EAS to those who experience severe and persistent mental health issues.
Linda Helmer is an LSCSW from McPherson, Kansas. She is involved in private practice at "Client Centered Counseling", an agency in McPherson. Linda's therapeutic services extend to her home where she manages Carousel Live, Inc. as she uses her own horses to offer equine assisted therapeutic services using the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning (EAGALA) method. She and her associate Sharon Stevens, also an LSCSW, have a vast amount of experience in the success of EAS. Linda will share her knowledge of the EAGALA process and how it can be used in conjunction with traditional therapy to assist individuals struggling with all kinds of emotional and mental health issues.
Theresa will offer information about the Equine Facilitated Mental Health Association (EFMHA) process which is a program developed by NARHA.
Some handouts and resource information will be provided.
There will be an opportunity for questions.
